Warning: This May Induce A Headache

Does the English Language Drive You Crazy? “Gregory Brown and Mitchell Moffit, the co-creators of the AsapSCIENCE YouTube channel” created this poem to prove just how ridiculous the English language is!

I love that this is my first post! It is a perfect way to set the stage for this category. Have I convinced you that we all need a little help decoding our own language? Luckily, daily speech leaves room for error. Most of us do not speak in a grammatically correct manner. Lacking accurate practice, it is amazing our writing is not full of run-on sentences or fragmented thoughts. Speech, for most, comes naturally, but writing slows everything down, materializing words before your eyes. No wonder conquering a blank page is such a daunting task! At the risk of sounding cliché, the only way to improve grammar skills is to practice writing. I am obviously not a perfect writer. In fact, I am one of those weird people who takes extensive notes in literary classes. I used to work in the medical field (yup, total college major change) and am grateful for the experience I gained in technical writing. My point is, find a way to practice writing in your everyday life. I believe abiding by proper rules of English when writing, will positively reflect in your diction. Now, learning these rules is a different story. Hopefully my future posts will provide more guidance in the how-to department. Happy writing!
